We are now closed for the season.

Baywave is open all year round - located opposite Bayfair, Mount Maunganui. Thanks for an epic summer - we couldn’t have done it without you!

We plan to reopen Monday 28 September - just in time for school holiday fun in the sun!

This season marks a change in facility management. Bay Venues is now kaitiaki of Dave Hume Pool, and with that comes the same local community pool feel, plus exciting new programmes, including AquaFit and BaySwim classes from 2026.

Pool Facilities: 

  • 6 lane 25m Pool, 1.3m – 1m deep, approximately 28°C

  • Learn to Swim Pool, 1m deep, approximately 32°C

  • Toddler Pool, 0.9m deep, approximately 34°C

  • R16 Exercise Outdoor Gym

  • 20 lockers available to use (BYO padlock for additional security)

  • 2 x BBQ's available to hire - $5 for a 1 hour booking (book in advance or on the day). T&C's apply

  • Grassed picnic areas and BBQ tables

  • The 25m pool is equipped with a mobility hoist and steps, providing easier and more accessible entry for all users.

BaySwim Swimming Lessons

BaySwim is an award-winning Learn2Swim programme with small classes and friendly teachers that allow your children to thrive in the water from the very first splash.

While enrolled with BaySwim, your Bayswimmer and a caregiver (for swimmers 10 and under) receive FREE entry to any of our community pools (Baywave, Greerton, Ōtūmoetai, and Te Puke Memorial Pool) at any time.

There’s nothing better than a summer pool party. Enjoy discounted group entry and a reserved space for birthday parties, end of term celebrations, sports teams break ups and more!

Special event bookings are available:

Weekends: 10am – 5.00pm

School Holidays (including weekends): 10am – 5.00pm

Please note event bookings are not available on weekdays during the school term.

You are welcome to bring a picnic or party food, but glass is not permitted on site for safety reasons.

AquaFit Katikati with Chloe

Dive in for a fun, full-body workout that's suitable for all fitness levels! No bookings needed – just turn up at least 15 minutes before class start time.

Timetable:

9:00am - Monday & Wednesday

9:00am & 5:00pm - Tuesday (from 5th May - 30th June)

9:00am - Saturday

Classes still operate on public holidays unless otherwise stated.

Lap swimmers and walkers, please note:
On Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, lanes 4–6 of the 25m pool are booked from 9.00am to 10.00am for AquaFit classes.

Yes, all of our pools allow you to bring your own food in. Greerton, Memorial and Otumoetai pools also have BBQs for hire on site.

Please note that commercial food is not permitted at Baywave (Pizza, McDonalds, KFC, fish & chips etc).

We do not have items available for hire, however our pools do have stores that sell a range of products. These include swimwear, towels, goggles, swim nappies etc.

This means that our lifeguards are currently cleaning the pools to ensure they are up to hygiene standards.

The length of time this takes varies, but you are welcome to phone the pool's reception for an update.

There is no need to book your entry to the Mount Hot Pools in advance, however you are welcome to use the online portal for convenient booking.

We do recommend booking Private Spas online to ensure availability.
