As part of our vision of supporting community swimming and wellness, we offer free swimming across our five pools for Tauranga Residents living with a permanent disability (physical or intellectual). There are two options available, see below for more information.
This membership provides access (general swim entry only) to swimmers that have a permanent physical or intellectual disability who requires a caregiver to safely use the aquatic venues. The caregiver must be aged 16+ and must be in or by the water and available to render immediate assistance to the member should this be required. The caregiver cannot also hold a “Disability Access – Caregiver Required” membership. Both the member and the caregiver swim for free under this membership type. A “Disability Access – Caregiver Required” member may not hold any other paying membership with Bay Venues that allows them to utilise our facilities without a caregiver.
This membership provides access (general swim entry only) to swimmers that have permanent physical or intellectual disability who do not require a caregiver to safely use the aquatic venues. While having a permanent disability, the member can use the aquatic venues safely without a caregiver present. The member swims for free under this membership type. Please note that normal child supervision rules will still apply.
